EXTENSIVE HISTORY OF THE ARK AND SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY:
In 1896 the First Congregational Church opened its doors on the corner of Jefferson and Washington in the town of Viroqua. You can imagine how many community suppers, pancake breakfasts, potlucks, wedding banquets have been enjoyed over the years.
In 1933, the first Congregationalists became the church to the Church of Christ followed by the Believers Fellowship.
In 2012 the building stopped functioning as a church and thanks to a philanthropic gift to a cluster of local artists, the building was purchased and is being re-imagined and re-purposed as a house of the ARTS. An immersive art experience is taking shape as a team of artists transform the staid walls into a living breathing color filled canvas.
THE KITCHEN: MANAGEMENT:
The kitchen will be managed by Frank Wildingway, who brings his vast knowledge and passion of food from seed to plate and 50 years of cooking experience.
THE KITCHEN: UPGRADING NEEDS:
Thanks to a grant from Organic Valley the original kitchen was transformed into a modern facility.
Now the time has come to take the next step to becoming a certified Cafe. In order to do this we need: a reach in NSF fridge, a smooth nonporous ceiling, 3 sinks: a handwash, a produce and a janitors mop sink. We need seed money for furnishing the dining room, stocking the pantry, paying the license fee and purchasing a few needed smallwares like a salad spinner, storage containers, in line water filter, 2 tall stock pots and a coffee maker with press pots.
Your donations and support of our fundraising efforts(see below) will help us fund these enhancements for the Ark Cafe.
